It’s an exciting Sunday for me because two of my favorites are back! First up is the season premiere of NCIS: LA, which ended last season with the fate of two members of the team in extreme jeopardy. The team was kind of all spread out in last season’s finale, all fighting the same fight – except for Nell and Eric, who were in San Francisco fighting the fight against Nell’s mom’s health problems. But Callen and Sam were aboard the USS Allegiance with Navy Captain Harmon Robb Jr (David James Elliott), Hetty was stateside, working with Marine Lt. Col. Sarah “Mac” Mackenzie (Catherine Bell) to learn more about the bad guys the rest of the team was fighting to stop, and Kensi and Deeks were over in Iran with Sabatino…and were trapped in the mobile CIA unit with him and a few others when they came under attack by ISIS fighters. They were literally trapped inside this metal box with no way out and not a lot of options. Obviously they won’t be going anywhere, so somehow, someone has to stop the ISIS guys, but who will it be?? The others are all thousands of miles away, trying to stop a missile attack that could potentially start WWIII.

We get more of Harm and Mac tonight, which is super exciting for JAG fans, but what I would also love to see more of is Sabatino. I think there’s an awesome chance here for another spinoff. I love him and his portrayer, Erik Palladino.

On tonight’s episode, “Let Fate Decide,” Callen and Sam work with Navy Capt. Harmon Rabb, Jr. to apprehend spies aboard the USS Allegiance. Also, Hetty partners with Marine Lt. Col. Sarah “Mac” Mackenzie to neutralize a missile attack in the Middle East, and Kensi and Deeks are trapped in a mobile CIA unit in Iraq while under attack by ISIS.

Don’t miss the exciting conclusion to last season’s finale episode on CBS (starting late because of football) at 9:30/8:30c.

Tonight, Game of Thrones finally returns to HBO to kick off its 6-episode final season. As the season 7 came to a close, Jon Snow was worried about the approaching army of White Walkers. He headed to Dragonstone, hoping to convince Daenerys to allow him to mine the dragonglass in order to make weapons to defeat the Night King. In exchange, she asked for this King of the North to bend the knee and proclaim her the true Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, which he eventually did. However, Jon also needed to convince Cersei that the Night Army was real and a bigger threat than her current battle over the Seven Kingdoms. So Jon and some men went on a mission to capture a White Walker “alive.” They ended up getting surrounded by the Night Army, and all looked hopeless until Daenerys showed up with her dragons to save them. But in the process, the Night King managed to kill one of the dragons with his spear and later resurrected it for his army. The Night King and his army then finally made their way to The Wall and easily broke through thanks to the new dragon.

There was a big meeting of all of those vying for the crown in Kings Landing. After seeing the undead White Walker, and thanks to some pleading by Tyrion, Cersei agreed to supply her army for the fight against the Night Army. However, after everyone left, she revealed to Jamie that she had lied and had no intentions of helping Daenerys and the others in their fight against the White Walkers. Jamie was upset that his sister didn’t see the more important matter at hand and disobeyed her orders, fleeing to join the fight against the Night King. Meanwhile, Sam made his way to Winterfell and met with Bran. When the two compared their information, they discovered that Jon Snow was not the bastard they believed him to be – his real name was Aegon Targaryen, and he is the true heir to the Iron Throne. This would also make Daenerys his aunt…news that might be a bit awkward since the two were currently having sex on their ship back from the meeting with Cersei!

So with only 6 episodes left, there’s a lot of ground to cover. First and foremost, how will this group defeat the fast-approaching Night King and his Night Army? And once that is resolved, who will ultimately sit in the Iron Throne? How will Jon and Daenerys react to the news of Jon’s true identity and their familial relation? Not just because they are knocking boots, but also, it seems like Daenerys really wants the throne and may not be willing to bend the knee to her nephew. Also, what will Cersei be planning while the others are distracted fighting the White Walkers, so that she can ensure she remains on the throne?

I’m excited to see how the series comes to an end, but at the same time, it’s sad to think that there are only 6 episodes left! A couple weeks ago, I had the amazing opportunity to attend HBO’s world premiere for the final season in New York City, where I got to meet and shake hands with many of the cast members and got an early look at tonight’s episode! You can check out my write-up of the event at NoReruns.net.

Don’t miss tonight’s 54-minute premiere on HBO at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Good Girls, Killing Eve, A Discovery of Witches, Barry, and Veep.

This afternoon at 1:45pm ET, BBC America joins other stations around the globe to air a world-wide simulcast of the series 11 premiere of Doctor Who. The new season is a complete reboot for the series, with all new characters, companions, aliens, villains, adventures, and likely TARDIS, plus a whole new team both in front of and behind the cameras. Taking over as showrunner is Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch), and cast as the first female Doctor is Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch). With each new regeneration, the Doctor gains a new personality and new quirks, so it will be interesting to see what the Thirteenth Doctor will be like. She will also be joined by a new set of companions (though that term will no longer be used in the series) – Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh, Law & Order: UK), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole, Hollyoaks), and Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill, The Good Karma Hospital).

I’m curious to check out this latest season, especially since I was one of those who was very much against casting a female Doctor. I hope Jodie proves me wrong and that I find a new favorite doctor in Thirteen – David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor is still my favorite. Over the past few years, I found the series to be in a bit of a decline, despite having some great episodes with each Doctor. I’m hoping some new blood behind the camera can help to revitalize this iconic series, though I’m a bit disappointed that the showrunner has decided to make a complete break from the past, treating this latest season like the start of a completely new series. I’m also curious to meet the new companions. I think the show works quite well with several companions instead of just one – Amy and Rory were my favorite pair since Doctor Who returned to the air, and I’m hoping we get a fun dynamic between the Doctor and this new trio.

On today’s premiere, “The Woman Who Fell to Earth,” a mysterious woman who can’t even remember her own name falls from the sky.

Before today’s world-wide premiere, BBC America will be airing an Ultimate Watch Party pre-show at 1:15pm ET, which will also continue after the episode. Tonight’s special encore of the premiere at 8pm ET/PT (the show’s regular timeslot) will include bonus interviews with Jodie Whittaker and footage from New York Comic Con. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I attended the press conference for the series. You can find my video from the event at NoReruns.net.

Don’t miss the latest season premiere today at 1:45/12:45c.

I’ll also be watching/recording God Friended Me, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Walking Dead, Star Wars Resistance, and Kidding.
