Interview with Danny Masterson from Men at Work

dannymastersoncall1smallI recently spoke to Danny Masterson, one of the stars of the TBS comedy, Men at Work. He was funny and it was easy to tell he really enjoys working on the show and loves his character Milo. Men at Work is different from other shows about groups of friends, partly because the core group of friends are all men. Danny said, “There’s not a lot of shows that aren’t sort of…the gentlemen and ladies together, so it’s definitely fun having the one-sidedness of it all.”

Season 2 premieres tonight, April 4, on TBS, and Danny spoke about how he got his part, what’s coming up for Milo, and the guest stars this season, so check it out.

Q: How did you get the part and what drew you to it?

“One of my old bosses at That 70s Show is one of the executives at Turner, so I think she had some influence, and then Breckin Meyer (Franklin & Bash), who created the show and has written…oh, half the episodes… I guess he was just looking for somebody not like him to play him, which I think for him was more interesting than getting somebody who’s very much like him. So he hired someone who’s totally opposite to play a version of him that comes off as sort of interestingly awkward, and it’s a lot of fun to play.”

If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/12/12

It’s the last day of our Remote posts this week, since we’re all skipping tomorrow (like we have the last few weeks… lol). Kyle will be back with posts on Sunday. I hope he (& all the other lucky people!) is having a good time at Comic-Con! For those of us that aren’t that lucky, check out what Megan & I think you should be watching tonight.

Oh, Rookie Blue, let me count the way I love you. Last week was a frustrating episode, as well as a sad one. I kind of wanted to just smack both parents of the little boy who pulled the gun on the police. The mother obviously had some mental or emotional problems, and having a husband like she did and a sister who seemed to be more of a nag than a support certainly didn’t help. It was fun to meet Andy’s mother. I was totally on Andy’s side, and it’ll be interesting to see how much more we see of them together. I loved the scenes with Andy & her dad, but my favorite scene had to be the end, with Andy & Sam. I’m not digging Chris being a man-whore because he’s hurt that Gail is see Nick. *shrug* I love that a couple of episodes ago, Noelle confided in Oliver about her pregnancy… And then last week, Oliver turned around and confided in Dov about his marriage. Oh! And how sad was the old man hoarder & his wife? That just about broke my heart. 🙁

On tonight’s episode, “Coming Home,” anoise complaint at an illegal warehouse party leads Andy and Swarek to an injured John Doe, a homeless squatter who has been brutally stabbed. They apprehend a surprising material witness—Oliver Shaw’s 15-year-old daughter, Izzy. When Izzy disappears, the officers move into emergency mode to track her down. But her involvement in the crime nearly pushes Shaw over the edge – both as a cop and a father.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Rookie Blue @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Youre Remote… 6/21/12

Can I just say a few things about last night’s Vegas episode of So You Think You Can Dance? One, I know my favorite girl of the season so far. Two, poor girl did them a favor by pairing up with a guy to perform as his partner after she’d already been put through and ended up getting kicked in the head…which impeded her performance, and she got sent home. Oh damn. And finally, three… The pop locker dude, Cyrus, is pretty cool. I don’t know how well he would do in the show, but I like him a lot. Oh, and Travis Wall? Gets hotter every time I see him. LOL But that was last night. Read on to find out what we think you should be watching tonight. 😉

The new comedy on TBS, Men at Work, wasn’t something I thought I’d stick with originally…and then I watched the premiere. I have loved every single episode. The cast is terrific (wasn’t a fan of James Lesure’s character on Mr. Sunshine, but loved him on Las Vegas, and now in this one, he’s fantastic. I really adore the other guys, too.), and the show just never fails to make me laugh. I look forward to seeing this show every week. I think my favorite episode has to be the one where Milo & Gibbs had a threesome (twice…) with a really hot chick. Or maybe it was when the guys were sure Amy was cheating on Neal. Neal confronting the blind guy was hysterical.

On tonight’s episode, “Crazy for Milo,” testing a lie-detector app reveals some tough truths for Gibbs and Tyler; Amy and Neal experiment with role-playing; Milo’s girl turns out to be a bit kooky.

Laugh along tonight on TBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Men at Work @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording Take Me Out, Burn Notice, and Saving Hope.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/24/12

It’s the last day of the Remote posts for us this week, as none of us have anything we’re watching or recommending for tomorrow. Unfortunately, we still have work & other duties, but for tonight, we can relax to some great TV. See what we think you should watch and then let us know what’s on your schedule!

May 24 will always be one of my favorite days of 2012. Why? Because Rookie Blue returns tonight! Last season ended with Sam & Andy having been in a secret relationship which turned scary when the bad guy Sam was undercover with figured out he was a cop. They broke a bunch of rules having Andy come visit Sam, and they had to pay for that by both gaining a suspension. It left off with Sam asking Andy if she wanted to have some normal down time with him – despite being told to stay away from each other – and her accepting. How will that break have gone? Also, Noelle & Frank had begun a relationship and she announced that she was pregnant (which is ironic, since she’d been trying to have a baby via in vitro anyway). Lots of changes in store for the group!

I’ve seen the premiere, and it was fantastic. There’s a new member of the squad and he’s got a history with one of the “rookies.” Peter Mooney joins the cast as ex-soldier Nick Collins, who is trying to adapt to civilian policing after serving in Afghanistan. Also, William Shatner guest stars on tonight’s episode, and honestly, it was my favorite guest starring role I’ve ever seen him in. He is fantastic, and the story line he’s involved in is heartbreaking.

On tonight’s episode, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” Andy returns after her three-month suspension and is ready to face an official tribunal that will determine if she should be reinstated. A drunk driver causes a multi-car collison resulting in a mysterious young girl vanishing from the scene.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing So You Think You Can Dance & the series premieres of Duets & Men at Work.
