If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/5/13

I usually don’t have a problem with Mondays, but yesterday was a doozy. Most of the day was good—hubby worked from home for the day, so we got to spend some extra time together—but then the day kind of turned to crap after the kiddo got home. I’m telling you, if you have a teenager, I feel for you. *sigh* Anyway, there’s some great TV on tonight, so I’m planning to relax tonight and enjoy myself. Here’s what we think you should be watching. 🙂

raisinghope25asmallLast week’s Raising Hope was too much fun. First, Sabrina & Jimmy got married (kind of…although they don’t know it, Jimmy’s wife, the serial killer, is still alive. They faked her death certificate so the pair could get married. heh), and it was cute, and sweet, and Sabrina’s speech to Jimmy at the end was too adorable. Then in the second episode, Barney’s wedding gift of an armoire turned out to be dollhouse-sized, so to make it up to them, he took the whole family (plus Sabrina’s mom’s ex-boyfriend LOL) to California to let Hope attend a taping of her favorite television show, starring Barney’s ex-wife’s child. While at the studio, the little girl in the show refused to do her line of blowing a raspberry, and when Hope did it from the audience, the producer pulled her in and replaced the other little girl. Hope was adorable, as was the very end, when Burt was confused about it being over already and then even more confused when he was told it was a “To Be Continued.” That was too funny.

raisinghope25bsmallTonight is another two episodes of this great show. It’s the continuation of the honeymoon episode plus another ep that sounds like it’ll be very funny. I’m very much looking forward to them. 😀

On tonight’s first episode, “Yo Zappa Do, Part 2,” when Hope is recruited as an actress on “Yo Zappa Do,” Jimmy signs on as an extra to help her through her scenes. But the show’s star Trevor (guest star Camden Garcia) is making his life miserable on set. Meanwhile Burt tries to pitch a new landscaping design to the studio chief (guest star Brian Doyle-Murray, Yes, Dear & Caddyshack), and Maw Maw settles an old debt with her late ex-husband.

Then on tonight’s second episode, “Sex, Clown and Videotape,” when Burt and Virginia discover that their storage locker is up for auction, they also realize they have misplaced a personal and incriminating home video that has fallen into the hands of another couple (guest stars Mike O’Malley, Yes, Dear & Glee, and Liza Snyder, Yes, Dear). Meanwhile, Sabrina tries to get to the bottom of Jimmy’s epic sleepwalking habit.

See both episodes tonight on FOX at 8/7c & 8:30/7:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Raising Hope @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Betty White’s Second Annual 90th Birthday Special, NCIS, The Taste, NCIS: LA, The Bachelor, Chopped, Cougar Town, Justified, & Total Blackout.

Recap/Review – Smash – “Bombshell” – 5/13/12

We’ve concluded the first season, and we finally have a Marilyn. So let’s dive right in with a recap, my review, and some thoughts on the season as a whole.

Recap:

After Rebecca’s sudden departure, Tom, Julia, Eileen, and Derek are fighting over who should get to play the part: Ivy or Karen. While Eileen is dealing with the press, Derek visits wardrobe to see the costumes, and he keeps seeing Karen as Marilyn. Back inside the theatre, Derek tells Karen in front of everyone – including Ivy – that she’ll go on as Marilyn that night.

Last week’s episode of Bones was one of my favorite in a long while. The case was rather uninteresting in and of itself, but the writers did a hell of a job making it funny. Booth and Brennan went to Hollywood to check out the filming of Brennan’s book-turned-movie. While there, they discovered that one of the prop “corpses” was a real dead guy. What cracked me up was the combination of names from show runners Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan. The victim was named Hanson Stephens, and oddly enough, when Angela did the facial work up, he looked VERY similar to Mr. Hart Hanson himself. I also loved that Dr. Douglas Filmore, the podiatrist from “Feet on the Beach,” was the movie’s scientific expert. That was a great throw back to a fun episode from the past. He turned out to be a great help, surprising Bones. The other really funny thing was when one of the actors recognized Cam from a movie she did in New York, called “Invasion of the Mother Suckers.” Hodgins flipped out and begged Angela to find the movie. After some digging, she was able to get her hands on the last remaining hard copy in existence apparently, and much to Cam’s chagrin, the team all sat down together to watch her movie debut as a vampire who gets staked. It was fantastic. The squints were all disappointed because they wanted to be on film, and much to Hodgins’ delight, since they were all such a huge help in solving the case, even remotely, Bones told them they got to appear in the film. Of course, they all got blown up, but still!

Of course, all that fun can only lead into one thing this week…and that is total angsty drama. From everything I’ve been reading and hearing, fans should be worried, scared, and on the edge of their seats for what’s to come tonight. Max is back, as is Pelant, who is supposed to be their scariest foe yet (I dunno…we’ll see, I guess. lol). Plus, Michael Grant Terry tweeted the other day that his character of Wendell (my favorite squintern!) is back tonight, so yay! I’m sad this is the season finale, and I’m worried about too much angst between Booth & Brennan after they have been doing so well, but like I said last week, I have to have faith in Hart, Stephen, and the other writers & show runners. I’m keeping my tissues handy, though, just in case!

On tonight’s episode, “The Past in the Present,” evil tech genius Christopher Pelant (guest star Andrew Leeds), a suspect in a previous case Brennan and Booth handled, is back in court on appeal. Knowing what he is capable of, Brennan and Booth inform the judge that he is a suspect in two murder cases. Then, Brennan and Booth are called to the scene of a new murder. After determining the victim is Brennan’s friend, who also is linked to Pelant, the Jeffersonian team works to prove he is guilty once and for all. But when law enforcement examines the team’s findings, key pieces of evidence are tied to Brennan and suspicion falls on her.

Recap/Review – Smash – “Previews” – 5/7/12

A solid hour that offered some explanation, featured a lot of drama, and brought us back to the pilot. And some news has surfaced about the second season: it will be 15 or 18 episodes, and they will be held back till mid-season.

Recap:

After last week’s scene in the bar, Dev and Ivy are waking up next to each other. Dev almost picks up Ivy’s phone because Jessica is using Karen’s phone to call Ivy to ask where she is, since the final rehearsal has started. When Ivy does arrive at rehearsal, she mentions she slept in. Karen tries to be nice to Ivy, but she shoots Karen down because she’s worried she’ll fall apart.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/7/12

It’s a huge night for TV – especially for fans of certain shows – so let’s get to it. Keep reading to see what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice #1

Last week’s Castle was epic. Zombies, some honesty finally with Castle & Beckett, Alexis deciding to go to college in New York… The case itself was great, really in true Castle fashion. A guy participating in “zombie walks,” where he dressed up as a zombie and chased people through the streets, got dosed with the “zombie drug” and given the directive to kill a man? I’ve never seen Rick Castle so excited as when he realized the case really was dealing with “zombies.” This season has been leading up one pivotal episode, and that is tonight’s season finale. All of the feelings Beckett & Castle have been dealing with for four seasons plus Beckett’s mother’s mother all culminate tonight, when Beckett learns Castle has been keeping a big secret from her, as well. Will we get complete resolution to not only Joanna Beckett’s murder but also Kate’s shooting in last season’s finale. It is going to be an exciting, thrilling episode and one that fans, whether you’re a “Caskett” fan or not, won’t want to miss. (And for Castle/Beckett shippers, the title of the episode should be squee-worthy…)

On tonight’s episode, “Always,” when the murder of an Army veteran puts Beckett on the trail of the man who shot her, Castle must decide how much he’s willing to sacrifice to keep her safe. As secrets are revealed and feelings are put on the table, the lives of the detectives at the 12th Precinct may never be the same.

Don’t miss it tonight on ABC at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Castle @ Clicker.
