Last week’s FBI hit way too close to home for Maggie in a couple of different ways. First up was the victim of the case-of-the-week, another FBI agent who was also married to an FBI agent. Maggie had been at Quantico with the victim’s wife, so she was friends with the couple. So his murder hit her hard, and she knew how his widow was feeling, since her husband had also been killed. But during the case, in which they figured out the lawyer killed him and a gang member and caught the gang leader who in turn killed the lawyer, they also figured out that the victim had been cheating on his wife. Only, when Maggie finally told her at the end, it turned out she already knew. That’s when Maggie learned from Kristen that Maggie’s husband had been exchanging late-night phone calls with a woman before his death. Kristen couldn’t tell her if those calls were business or personal, but we know that Kristen told OA that there didn’t seem to be any business reason for him to have called her. Right at the end, we saw Maggie go to the woman’s work and ask to see her. What we don’t know is what Maggie learned. I don’t know if we’ll find that out in tonight’s season finale or if we’ll just be left to speculate. Given the episode description, I think we’ll find out… Either way, it’s been a fun first season, and I can’t wait for season two already.

On tonight’s episode, “Closure,” a woman with information about the death of Maggie’s husband is abducted leading the team to uncover a criminal operation larger than anyone imagined. Also, Dana puts her career in jeopardy by standing by and allowing Maggie to work on the case, which has such a personal connection to her.

Don’t miss the chance to get more answers to Maggie’s husband’s death tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Housewife, MasterChef Junior, NCIS, Chopped, & NCIS: New Orleans.

Tonight I’m looking forward to checking out the new ABC comedy Bless this Mess. When his great-aunt dies and leaves him a farmhouse, Mike (Dax Shepard, Parenthood) and his wife Rio (Lake Bell, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later) decide to leave the hustle and bustle of New York City for a quieter, simpler life in Nebraska. However, when they arrive, they discover that their new home is quite the fixer-upper, and things aren’t going to be as easy and laid-back as they had hoped.

I didn’t have a screener available to check out the show ahead of time, but based on the trailer it looks like it could be really fun – a fish-out-of-water comedy with some The Money Pit thrown into the mix. The cast playing the wacky new neighbors is also great – Ed Begley Jr. (Modern Family), Pam Grier (Jackie Brown), David Koechner (The Goldbergs), Lennon Parham (Playing House), and JT Neal (Lab Rats).

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” newlyweds Rio and Mike drop everything to make the move from New York to rural Nebraska in search of a simpler life, but they quickly realize that becoming farmers isn’t as easy as they had hoped.

Don’t miss this new comedy tonight on ABC at 9:30/8:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording American Housewife, The Kids Are Alright, black-ish, The Rookie, The Flash, Fosse/Verdon, and Growing Up Chrisley.

The episode of FBI before the winter break was one of my favorites so far because we focused a lot on OA (plus there was the return of Billy Burke to TV, yay!). When an illegal arms broker turned informant was killed, OA assumed his identity and went undercover to stop the sale of danger weapons. OA rocked the undercover gig, so much so that at the end, he visited the FBI academy to talk to a class of recruits about undercover work. I loved how calm, cool, and collected he was each time he was with the bad guys (or girl…). One of my favorite moments was when he was meeting with the bad guy’s daughter (who turned out to be even more of a bad guy, killing her father and taking over the deal herself) for the first time and she asked about when he went to school with another player on the board. Maggie remembered the info just in time to feed it to him, and it all went smoothly.

I’m enjoying this show a lot. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s a lot of fun, and I love the cast.

On tonight’s episode, “Identity Crisis,” when a judge and her daughter are murdered after she sentenced a man to life in prison, Maggie and OA search for the killer behind a possible retaliation. Dana has a vested interest in this case as she has a history with the victim.

Find out who killed the judge and her daughter tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Conners, Ellen’s Game of Games, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans, The Kids are Alright, & Chopped.

[I originally wrote this up last week, but CBS pulled it to air this week due to all the political crap that aired during primetime Tuesday. So if this seems familiar, that’s why. 😉 ]

Phoebe’s Choice #1

I’ve been pretty captivated the last few months by the new team on Lethal Weapon, which teams up Seann William Scott with Damon Wayans as two unorthodox LAPD detectives, even without having seen the first two seasons. Admittedly, I am obsessed with everything Scott’s done post-Stiffler, but the show does get on, on its own merits.

The last new episode opened with Cole (Scott) MIA, having flaked on his daughter. When she called Murtaugh to look for him, he recommended his daughter Rianna to babysit. Murtaugh was next at the scene of an abduction. He concluded that Cole was abducted by the Vasquez cartel. At the cartel torture house, they pulled out a few of Cole’s fingernails before Sofia Vasquez revealed herself to him. She had him buried alive rather than shooting him. Murtaugh confronted Cole’s CIA handler, Tom Barnes, who insisted he didn’t betray Cole. He “put his best man on the job” and expected him to take out Vasquez.

Throughout the episode, we saw Cole and his baby mama, Natalie, in their first meetings overseas. He was undercover as a photographer and she was a nurse. They fell in love and she got preggers. Back in the present, other former undercover agent, “The Gute” got them a lead that put them on Cole’s trail, but all they found was his bloody discarded fingernails. Murtaugh again confronted Barnes, who recommended they flip former cartel lieutenant Benny Aliva, whom LAPD had in holding. In flashbacks, we saw that Natalie became pregnant while still stationed overseas.

Murtaugh tracked down Cole with Aliva’s help and dug him up before he died. While recovering in the hospital, Cole got immersed in the memory of talking to Natalie about plans for a honeymoon in Bali. Later that night, Cole KO’d Murtaugh and locked him in Mrs. Murtaugh’s trunk so he could go confront Vasquez on his own. Murtaugh woke up to his daughter stealing the car to go out with her bf. When the boyfriend turned creeper, Roger emerged and took the car back. Cole saved Sofia Vasquez from the hit team Aliva was leading against her, with a last-minute assist from Murtaugh. In the final scene, Cole professed his love for Natalie was undying and she kissed him but was very conflicted about the timing.

On tonight’s episode, “What the Puck,” Cole wants to talk to Natalie about their relationship before it’s too late, but a wrench is thrown in his plans after he bumps into a new ADA, Erica (guest star Nishi Munshi). Meanwhile, after being kicked out of the house for Trish’s girl’s night, Murtaugh finds himself an unlikely friend.

See if Cole makes a decision about Natalie tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’m so happy because it seems like forever ago that we last saw Jen, Bill, Will, & Zoey on The Little Couple. When we left them, the family had visited friends in Vermont and had some fun in the snow, but the big question was their job and living situation… Jen got offered a huge job opportunity in St. Petersburg, Florida, heading up a new simulation division, which is what she’s been doing at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, but this would put her in charge of it at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. In the end, they decided that even though Bill was just getting ready to open a new, bigger store for his business, the positives outweighed the negatives, and they decided to head to Florida. It should be fun to catch up with them and see how the move goes (well, by this time, how the move went!).

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Why Do We Have to Move?” after accepting a job in St. Petersburg, Jen, Bill, and the kids travel to Florida to find a perfect new home, but with specific needs and two curious kids, house hunting isn’t easy; the family grabs a sweet treat to celebrate Jen’s birthday.

Go house hunting with the family tonight on TLC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing NCIS, Chopped, FBI, Lethal Weapon, NCIS: New Orleans, & Sweet Home Sextuplets.
