Last week’s premiere of Chicago PD was rough. Don’t get me wrong… It was great, and I enjoyed it. But it was tough for several reasons. One was because Erin was gone. Jay seemed…lost…a couple of times. When he walked through the empty apartment (well, almost empty… what was with that stack of books just randomly left there?!) and found the picture of the two of them, my shipper heart broke. I certainly don’t begrudge Sophia Bush for wanting to move on, but Erin Lindsay was one of my favorite characters on TV, and I loved shipping her and Halstead. Poor Voight was dealing with her absence as well, but he seemed to be handling it better than Halstead. I did like seeing Hailey on the team for good. She’s a good fit with the others so far. As for the story line, it was tough to watch, especially Halstead learning he was the one who shot the little girl, but in the end, it worked out okay. I also wasn’t thrilled about Voight’s former partner, Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson), being back — having been found to be a “good cop,” really?! — and having been given the task of overseeing an internal investigation of Intelligence. Ugh.

Given the state of affairs in the world right now, tonight’s episode is going to hit hard for many people. But I also hope that it opens peoples’ eyes to show that you can’t judge a book by its cover…meaning you can’t judge one person based on what another person does/other people do. Hopefully it’ll be a good teaching episode as well as an entertaining one.

On tonight’s episode, “The Thing About Heroes,” after a van explodes during a Chicago street festival, a Muslim patrol officer Frank Toma (guest star Ben Youcef) goes missing, and evidence quickly piles up pointing to his involvement. Burgess — who helped train Toma — is desperate to prove his innocence, even if that means going against her superiors.

See how Burgess defends her friend tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Goldbergs, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, SEAL Team, Worst Cooks in America, American Housewife, Best Baker in America, & Criminal Minds.

Tonight, ABC’s Wednesday comedies have their season finales, and for two of tonight’s shows, that means high school graduations. On The Goldbergs, it’s Erica who’s graduating, and on Modern Family, both Manny and Luke will be finishing up their high school experiences. Both of these series have already been picked up for next season (Modern Family for two more seasons!). I can’t imagine these shows without Erica, Luke, or Manny, but I’m sure the writers will find some way to ensure that these characters’ post-graduation activities cause them to remain close to home. I always enjoy these family comedy season finales, as there’s usually some sort of big family event tied into them. However, I will really miss these shows over the summer!

On tonight’s The Goldbergs finale, “Graduation Day,” graduation day is quickly approaching, and Erica cannot wait to get out of the house, until it dawns on her how much Beverly’s love means to her. Meanwhile, Barry’s plans for himself and Lainey turn to dust; and Dana makes a surprise visit just as Adam and Jackie officially become a couple.

Later, on tonight’s Modern Family finale, “The Graduates,” Javier shows up for Manny’s high-school graduation and takes him out for a wild night of celebration, but Jay must step in to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile, the rest of the Pritchett clan get ready for Luke and Manny’s big day.

To check out the graduations, tune in to ABC at 8/7c & 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Speechless, Downward Dog, Designated Survivor, Survivor, The 100, Fargo, and Archer.

Last week was a huge turning point in Reid’s predicament on Criminal Minds. He had a visitor and was shocked to see his mother there for the first time since he was put in prison. She was scared for him but he calmed her down, only to tell him that she’d fired her previous caretaker and she really liked the new one. Only…when the young woman came to pick her up, Reid recognized her. Not only was she a crazy girl in a previous case the BAU worked, where she urged her father to kill a guy, but…she was the woman in the hotel room down in Mexico. SHE was the one who killed the doctor, gassed Reid, and then told him it was time to leave and to follow her. Reid figured out he knew her from the previous case, but she said she didn’t know what he was talking about. It was only after she’d basically dragged his mother away that he realized she was the one in Mexico. By then, it was too late and they were gone.

And of course, there was still the weekly case, which was really kind of heartbreaking last week… A former colleague & friend of Walker’s was taken to the hospital after he suffered what they believed to be a heart attack. But they quickly figured out that in actuality, he’d been poisoned with a lethal dose of radiation. Several more victims followed, all of whom worked for the government in some capacity, including the killer’s husband, whom she killed by poisoning his lunch, rather than using a needle like she’d done for the others. The team had her surrounded, but she grabbed a hostage, and no one had a shot until Rossi came up behind her. He was able to take her down before she could stab her hostage with the needle she was holding. As for Walker’s friend, he was alone, since he and his wife had divorced and their son sided with her. Originally he didn’t want Walker to call his ex-wife or his son, since he didn’t want to burden them, but as his death loomed close, he told Walker he wished he’d been able to see his son one last time. Walker promised to make it happen – and he did. He sent JJ and Luke to pick the son up from college. At first he balked, saying he wanted nothing to do with his father, but then the scene changed to show him arriving at the hospital, obviously upset. So there was a reunion, which was both touching and sad.

The young woman who killed the doctor and helped set up Reid can’t be working alone – not after gassing him like Scratch has done with his victims. But will they be able to find Diana in time?? Tonight is the next-to-last episode of the season, so it’s all got to come to a head this week and next. I can’t wait to see all the action tonight!

On tonight’s episode, “Green Light,” when Reid fears his mother has been abducted, he asks the BAU to investigate while he’s stuck in prison.

Find out what the team learns tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Blindspot, The Goldbergs, Cooks vs Cons, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Chicago PD, & Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

I’m going to continue the holiday-themed-episode trend today with the Christmas/Hanukkah episode of The Goldbergs. The thing I love most about this show is the feeling of nostalgia I get whenever I watch it. Whether it be the most popular boy band of the decade, a hit TV show, or…like last week…a popular sports team/entertainment like the Harlem Globetrotters. I never got to go to a game myself, but we watched them on TV a couple of times, and they’re just plain fun to watch, as Murray found out when he and Adam went to see them play. Speaking of Murray… He turned 50, and Beverly threw him a not-so-surprise party, but he ended up missing it because he fell asleep and no one noticed after Erica threw all the coats from the guests on top of him on the bed. I swear, that’s going to be my husband if I do that in a few years! LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Han Ukkah Solo,” after finding out there is only going to be one Hanukkah song in the Holiday Pageant, Beverly convinces Erica to create the perfect song to bring some excitement to the holiday. Erica sees her shot to break into the music business while Barry does his best to prove he too can be a hit maker with music. Meanwhile, Adam’s childlike wonder with movies and entertainment is called into question when things he loved as a child aren’t as good as he remembers. [Note from Jenny: Just wait till he’s in his 30s and starts looking back! LOL]

See if everything works out for Erica or Barry tonight on ABC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kids Sweets Showdown, Speechless, Brothers Take New Orleans, Cooks vs Cons, Modern Family, & black-ish.

chicagopd1026smallI missed having a new episode of Chicago PD on last week because of the debate. On the episode a couple of weeks ago, people were shot and driven into with a car outside the concert of a young (teenage) rapper – including the rapper himself – and it was thought to be gang-related. It was, but not in the way they first thought. Turned out one gang was trying to turn two other gangs against each other, and it looked like it was working. They started attacking each other, until Voight took the leaders from both out to one of his spots and explained that neither were behind the original attack and to let this one go. That was a fun scene! Meanwhile, while trying to talk to some of the people on the “watch list” (a list of who they thought was most likely to be the next victim), Burgess saw Atwater’s younger brother at the house of one of the “watch list” kids. She cornered him, took him home, and stayed until Atwater got home. I don’t know if Atwater should have come down harder on the kid or not. It seemed like he kind of just brushed it under the rug. Huh…

On tonight’s episode, “A War Zone,” Intelligence is tasked with tracking down the dealers of fentanyl – a drug that has been linked to multiple overdoses around the city. As they investigate possible sources, the team uncovers a series of dealers in a college smuggling ring. Meanwhile, Tay and Burgess come across a bloodied child who exposes a dark and twisted secret about his home life with his parents. Additionally, Mouse causes tension as he looks to reenlist in the army, and Platt tells Tay that she has been reassigned to her original post.

See if they can find the dealers and why Tay has to go tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Blindspot, The Goldbergs, Speechless, Criminal Minds, Frequency, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Worst Cooks in America, black-ish, & That Awkward Game Show.
